Myriam Casanova is a costume designer based in Bern, Switzerland.
After graduating in Textile Design from the Universities of Art and Design in Lucerne and Helsinki, she started working as a costume assistant at Konzert Theater Bern for three years.
Since 2014, she works as a freelance costume designer for theatre, opera and dance/performance. A long-time collaboration with Heide Kastler led her to different opera houses and theatres such as Opéra National de Lyon, Royal Opera House in London, Burgtheater Wien and Teatro San Carlo Napoli.
She also cooperates with other Swiss based collectives and theaters such as PENG! Palast, Unplush, Theater Marie, Tojo Theater, Dampfzentrale Bern, Kellertheater Winterthur, Schlachthaus Theater Bern.
In her work as a costume designer she often interacts with her surroundings, with space and scenes and with people telling stories. It is a constant adaptation and a come together of different ideas and people from various fields. She is inspired by this variety of approaches on a text-based idea and her interests are quickened by the process of rehearsal and the evolution of the initial conception.
